Atmospheric Profiling Radiometer, Northwest Passage and Beaufort Sea, 2015

Raw data are collected using a Radiometrics TP/WVP3000A Profiling Radiometer. The instrument is located directly behind the wheelhouse of the Amundsen icebreaker and has a clear view of the sky. The upward-looking radome passively monitors microwave radiation in the 22-29 GHz range and in the 51-59 GHz range. The unit is also equipped to measure cloud height, surface temperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure. Output products include vertical profiles of temperature, water vapour, relative humidity, and an estimate of total column integrated liquid water content.
