Petroleum hydrocarbons in invertebrates at the base of marine food webs in Baffin Bay (NGMP ID EC13)

The research will consist of collecting samples of pelagic and benthic invertebrates at ten sites across Baffin Bay as part of ArcticNet's 2013 Amundsen research expedition, taxonomically identify the organisms, and analyze 12 samples per site for petroleum hydrocarbons. At each site, three benthic species and three pelagic species will be analyzed in replicate. Samples will be analyzed for hydrocarbons in the laboratory after the expedition using a modified US EPA 8279 methodology.
