Assessing Legacy and Emerging Contaminants in Canadian Arctic Air and Water Bodies as an Entry Point into the Arctic Food Chain: 2020-2021

We collected water samples in the summer of 2020 from on board the CCGS Wilfrid Laurier in the Beauford Sea. Different types of water samples were collected: grab samples at the surface for flame retardants were collected in glass bottles and shipped back to the lab for processing. Grab samples for per-fluorinated compounds were also collected at the surface and at two-three depths in plastic bottles and shipped back to the lab for processing. We were able to retrieve passive sampling cages that were deployed in the Beauford Sea last year and we were also able to deploy more cages. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic our sampling was limited and sampling on the CCGS Amundsen for our project was canceled.
